Foot and Mouth Disease update No. 2 of 2026

• An outbreak of foot and mouth disease was confirmed in a cattle farm in Greece, in the area of Mantamados, Lesvos Island on the 16^th of March 2026, with sixteen additional outbreaks being confirmed afterwards.
• Appropriate movement restrictions and further measures have been introduced in the whole island.
• Since the first outbreak confirmed in the Republic of Cyprus on the 20^th of February, further 49 outbreaks have been confirmed.
• The Republic of Cyprus will implement emergency protective vaccination in about 850,000 animals, including cattle, sheep and pigs, and not susceptible wildlife.
