| Description | Lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) is an infectious, contagious, primarily vector-borne viral disease that affects cattle (Bos Taurus, Bos indicus and Asian water buffalo). Clinical signs begin with fever, followed within 2 days by development of nodules on skin and mucous membranes. The mortality rate is low but significant losses occur due to decreased milk production, abortion, infertility and loss of condition. LSDV does not infect humans. |
