Description | Ovine pulmonary adenocarcinoma (OPA), also known as ovine pulmonary adenomatosis and jaagsiekte, is a contagious neoplasia of sheep and, rarely, of goats. It is a progressive respiratory disease, principally affecting adult animals. The disease occurs in many regions of the world. A betaretrovirus (jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus: JSRV), distinct from the non-oncogenic ovine lentiviruses, has been shown to cause the disease. |
